They've always said

that "when the going gets tough, the tough get going."

And perhaps it's true.

But sometimes the tough have to find a tiny crevice to wedge their fingers into and hang on with every ounce of strength and wait for that bigger toughness to pass.

And, then, get going.

Like when your sister's car starts it's death rattle
And you're sleeping on your brother's floor and is about as poor as they come...

You've all been there. It's those moments you cry out to God because you are utterly helpless.
Those are good moments.
Get ready. I think before this economy rightens itself, a lot of us will have experienced those moments.
These will be some pretty awesome times
if we just let God ______________
(fill in the blank. You have a need? He's there.)

ANSWERED PRAYER!

Bro Joe Welch is home! Here's the brief line I received:

...thank you for praying for Joe Welch (missionary with cerebral malaria). He was released from the hospital today but will be on much medication. He returns to the Dr. in January to check his blood as his platelets are still low. Please continue to pray for him…

Malaria is an odd critter. From what I understand it can hit you at odd times for several years after a bad bout...any time fever or stress gets too high... and Cerebral Malaria is some of the worse. It's a battle wound this warrior of the cross will likely carry for the next several years.

When I was in Boston, I was struck by some ads on the subways for Dentyne. They were cute:

Make FaceTime

Just a little reminder that while Facebook is cool, its our friends that we love.

Like tonight when I got to catch up with Ran Coffman at the mall (We say "obrigado" instead of "thank you") after a long day of work, and then ran into my sister and her boyfriend (they were Christmas shopping for Cory...I found them looking at womens coats.) and finally had Wylie Redfern wander up out of the blue (we hugged right there in the middle of JC Penny's).

I love my friends.
To bad you weren't there.
Some other time, perhaps?
Looking forward to it.

Bro Joe Welch's Motto while in Africa:

"Ain't Skeered"
I love it.
While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. (Gen 8:22)
